Got my hands on a very rusty, sad looking 1950's typewriter from my local salvage yard the other day. For the reasonable price of £15, I bought a box of dust, dilapidation and marvellous mechanical wonderment. Seems that old typewriters have become somewhat of an obsession for me. It's the combination of typographical magic, mechanical ingenuity, and the old challenge of restoring something valuable back into a fully functional tool. After disassembly, and a decent clean, I sanded back the rusted areas, Cleaned them again, and put the whole thing back together. One of the interesting details I wanted to revive was an old, crumbling label on the case. Such a nice detail, which I redrew in ProCreate, printed onto gloss paper, resealed, and fixed back into place on the basket cover. After a bit of tweaking, and some light lubrication, it's back to its former glory! I'll be using this beauty for some graphic art, soon enough.
